Apache Superset
Superset connects through SQLAlchemy URIs. Use the driver you already have; only the host changes.
| Connector | Before | After |
|---|---|---|
PostgreSQL (psycopg2 / psycopg) |
postgresql://app:***@postgres.internal:5432/demo |
postgresql://app:***@warehouse.internal:5432/demo |
ClickHouse (clickhouse-connect) |
clickhousedb://app:***@clickhouse.internal:8443/default?secure=true |
clickhousedb://app:***@warehouse.internal:8443/default?secure=true |
Snowflake (snowflake-sqlalchemy) |
snowflake://app:***@myorg-myaccount/DEMO/PUBLIC?warehouse=BI&role=ANALYST |
snowflake://app:***@demo/DEMO/PUBLIC?warehouse=BI&role=ANALYST plus Engine parameters {"connect_args": {"host": "warehouse.internal", "port": 443, "protocol": "https"}} |
Steps: Settings → Database Connections → + Database, choose the engine, paste the URI (and engine parameters for Snowflake), Test connection, Connect. Datasets, charts, SQL Lab and dashboards work as before. For many concurrent dashboards, set the Superset database’s Asynchronous query execution as usual; MachWarehouse’s admission control and result cache handle the rest.
Recommended: use the ClickHouse connector for ClickHouse-dialect SQL in SQL Lab, the PostgreSQL connector for PG-dialect SQL.
